Screens

Screening is the first unit operation used at wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The removed screenings contain rags, paper, plastics, faecal matter and mineral solids.

Screening prevents damage and clogging of downstream equipment, piping, and appurtenances. The screenings volume depends, not only on the separation size of the screen, but also on the type of sewer system.

Two systems are currently manufactured by SPIRAC®:

  • The SPIROGUARD® Compact Cleaner (CC) Screen is designed as a stand-alone unit for pumped flow applications. SPIROGUARD® Channel Screen (CS) Screens can be installed for a variety of flow rates and upstream and downstream water levels. The angle of inclination depends on the concrete channel specifications.
