We are proud to have played a key role in the successful upgrade of the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), South Australia's largest wastewater facility. This major infrastructure project, led by SA Water, was designed to significantly increase the plant’s capacity in response to Adelaide’s growing northern suburbs.
As part of the mechanical equipment installation phase, SPIRAC supplied and commissioned a suite of advanced solids handling solutions:
- 4 × MULTIGUARD units – Providing coarse screening to protect downstream equipment and improve system reliability.
- 4 × FINEGUARD screens – High-performance fine screening units designed to remove smaller debris and enhance treatment efficiency.
- 4 × SPIROWASH units – Screenings washing and dewatering systems that reduce waste volume and improve hygiene and handling.
Each SPIROWASH unit is fed by a dedicated launder, with four launders in total channeling screened material directly into the SPIROWASH systems for efficient processing.
This installation marks a significant milestone in the $121 million upgrade program, which has doubled Bolivar’s inlet capacity from 300ML to 630ML per day. The new inlet works, including SPIRAC’s equipment, are now fully operational and ready to support future population growth and increased wastewater flows across the region.
SPIRAC’s contribution underscores our commitment to delivering robust, low-maintenance, and environmentally responsible solutions for municipal wastewater treatment.
